A (general) Dermatologist's income is approximately the same as a subspecialist in Internal Medicine, however, the lifestyle is considerably easier. There are not many training centers for Allopathic Dermatology in the US, thus making it a highly competitive specialty. Despite the lack of difficulty in obtaining referrals or direct walk-ins, not to mention the one to two month delay in seeing a Dermatologist, they still need to see an exorbitant number of patients daily to sustain their practice. It's not considered one of the higher paying specialties, but does offer one of the best lifestyles of medical specialties. If you're interested in acadaemic practice, then there is a bounty of dermatologic research which goes one in most leading acadaemic institutions in the US.How does the income of a dermatologist compare to that of other doctors?
sorry I don't have dollar figures, but my own dermatologist seems very happy. Patients have actually cried with happiness as their 11's disappear. [the 2 vertical lines between the eyebrows]. He gets to make people look better all day, has a large # of staff members, and lots of over 50 ladies looking for botox. Swanky office. Expensive cosmetics for sale--like $100 bottles of sunscreen that I get for a dollar at dollar tree. Ladies are lined up to buy it.
