I just went to the dermatologist, no biggie, she gave me a RX, cream, used it the first night next morning I was acne free! My husband uses proavtive, works well for him but is does stain things, best bet go to the Dr and get the right stuff. (BYW- my husband is going to my derm, monday to get a RX)
Cleanse, tone, moisturize. Use a glycolic acid soap to clean your face to control facial oil without causing dryness. Use a toner with salicylic acid to remove and prevent blackheads caused by oil build up. An infected blackhead can cause an acne break out. Moisturize with a light moisturizer at night.

To dry up existing acne, use benzoyl peroxide 5% 2-3x a day or Retinoic acid at night, whichever once is available.

Any product with salycilic acid in it will dry them up quickly. Also, dabbing them with toothpaste overnight will make them shrink quickly.

More than anything, avoid touching your face. The dirt and oil just clogs up your pores even more.

Also, don't wash your face any more than 2 times a day. Strange as it may sound, over-drying your face will actually cause it to produce more oil and make your problem even worse. Find a good oil-free moisturizer and use it daily.
go to an older friend and ask how to get rid of zits. There are natural formulas online. You can make them yourself or you can do some research online. I really dont have a straight answer.
Get lots of sun, wash your face with moisturizing soap, don't touch your face, avoid makeup as much as possible.
