Do I need a referral to see a dermatologist?

I live in Ontario, and when I look in the phone book, there are no numbers for dermatologists. In fact, the only time I've ever seen one is through a referral from my doctor. Do I have to get a referral to see one or what?Do I need a referral to see a dermatologist?
Yes, you would most likely need to have a referral from your Primary Care Physician to be able to see a dermatologist. I have a friend who is from Canada and she needs to have her Primary Care Physician refer her to different specialists.
