How long do you have to go to school to become a dermatologist in Iowa? What schools in Iowa?

My brother was diagnosed with Melonoma about six years and i have been interested in dermatology ever since. How long do you have to go to school to become a dermatologist in Iowa? What schools in Iowa?
I'm so sorry about your brother. I hope that he is doing ok. I had done a paper on skin cancer/melanoma back in high school and wrote about the seriousness of the disease and how tanning beds are even worse than getting a tan from the actual sun. In order to become a dermatologist, one must attend medical school. First one must take pre-med courses which are pretty heavy in the sciences including biology, chemistry, biochem, organic chemistry and math and other prerequisites and then (I believe after obtaining a bachelor's degree) applying to several medical schools since the application process is highly competitive. It's awesome how you have a personal interest in the field since you have dealt with it first-hand. Bless you!How long do you have to go to school to become a dermatologist in Iowa? First you need to get a bachelors degree in biology or health science. This will take four years and you can go to almost any 4-year college in Iowa. Then you need to go to graduate/medical school and that should take you four years plus and internship after you finish. The best place to go to for that would the University of Iowa.
