Should I go to my doctor or a dermatologist for this thing on my skin?

I've had it for a while, and it's similar to a birthmark, but I haven't had it since birth. It's always bothered me because it's on my shoulder and it is big. I don't really know what it is, but I do want to remove it. So should I go to my regular doctor or a dermatologist?Should I go to my doctor or a dermatologist for this thing on my skin?
It depends on your insurance provider. but ultimately you'll probably end up at a dermatologist. Some insurance plans require a referral from you primary physician to see a specialist. Sometimes you can make an appointment directly with the dermatologist. Check with you primary care physician first.Should I go to my doctor or a dermatologist for this thing on my skin?
Since it's a skin problem, it's best to see a dermatologist, unless your insurance plan requires you to see your regular doctor first, for a referral to a specialist. The majority of the time, a regular doctor won't know what it is.
You need to go to your regular doc first have him check it out and if it really bothers you he/she could send you to have it removed by laser.
If you are in the UK you will have to see your GP first. He / she will take a look at it and if they are concerned may refer you to a dematologist or they may treat it themselves if they think it needs treating.

if your only symptom is that thing on your skin, go to a dermatologist. otherwise, see a primary care physician.
